A courageous person is one who risks almost certain death for the common good. If someone risks their life and it isn’t for the common good, that person is probably on a skateboard or at a monster truck rally.
“Courage of your convictions” is a useful phrase when “sanctimonious prig of a professional-victim” sounds too judgmental.
A coward dies a thousand deaths; but, a hero dies but once… usually REALLY early on into the battle.
Never confuse confidence with courage… although, if you do, I doubt anyone will notice.
There is no one braver than someone who faces his own short-comings… except maybe firemen or one of those jugglers who uses knives or chainsaws.
The truly courageous are not scared of being afraid; and, that’s what makes them cowards.
If you think of courage as a cave and life as a boulder in that cave, you’re going to have a pretty hard time explaining that metaphor…
Because he was immortal, you really couldn’t call Frankenstein’s monster “courageous”… unless he decided to go to a Minneapolis, alone, single and get a job at a local stations news desk with no experience… just MOXIE. You’re gonna make it after all!
The animal associated with courage is the lion. But, a lion mostly fights things like deer and wild pigs, with little danger of getting hurt. Basically the only outcomes are nothing or lunch. Want real courage? Try the honeybee…

Hahaha cool! I’m totally a queen bee, and I am simultaneously not, because I know the difference between rhetorical and metaphorical correlations to reality. Sure they may correlate but that does not equate causation. Hoo-rah I don’t know what I was saying but it was hopefully something about you wrote a good post and we are going to shave and shank Aslan on the stone table?

Well… he aspired to be King of the Forest (not prince… not duke… not earl). The destabilization that would result from that to the political system in the forest would’ve been prohibitive. So… I sent him to kill a witch…
