Blogger Tag Nonsense

Chelsea Owens nominated me and I’m feeling like opening up a bit this week, so…

Why did you start blogging & why have you kept blogging? I gave up on publishing my work and just wanted people to read it. Oddly enough, I actually got published, on paper, last year. One of my goals.

What is your favorite type of blog post to write? I like writing the animal essays. They take longer but they are the most satisfying.

What are your top 3 favorite blog posts? “How is a Pirate Better than a Handball”, “Why Salt is Better than a Woman” and “St. Osgyth and Her Terrible Horrible No-good Very Bad Life”. The first two were just fractured thoughts that came to me when I was half asleep and I decided to see if I could make them work.

What are some of your favorite things to do to relax? I like to watch detective movies from the thirties and forties, like The Saint, The Thin Man and Torchy Blaine…

What are 3 of your favorite things? I like to hear people laugh, a great cup of coffee with heavy cream and sleep with lots of dreams.

What are your proudest blogging moments? I don’t believe in pride.

What are your hobbies outside of blogging? Cooking and reading. I read modern trash, classics and non-fiction. The train-ride to work gives me a lot of reading time.

Describe your personality in 3 words: Kind introverted monster

What are your top 3 pet peeves? Willful stupidity, lack of creativity and hypocrisy.

What’s something your followers don’t know about you? I’m severely depressed and bipolar. I’ve got a black belt and I was a karate teacher for a while. I like hats.

As for nominees, Deb Whittam is always first on my list.

Robyn’s posts are always interesting, mostly on the subject of autism.

ESP is a man who likes to write.

Lately, I’ve been charmed by Rivergirl.

And, if you haven’t read River Dixon, yet, you’ve been missing out…

  1. Maybe you already know this but just in case – check out Noir Alley on TCM. They’re not all detective movies but most of them are good. And if you don’t have cable then pretend I never wrote this and I’ll back you up if you’re ever confronted. And congratulations on getting published on paper.

  2. This was a surprise, when one feels like opening up I would say one is already cracked, or is it the other way round. Interesting facts, but severely depressed, bipolar and karate teacher man, you are full of surprises, these are also characteristics of great writers, the first two i.e. Congrats to you on getting published, where do we get to read it. Congrats to me too on getting nominated 🙂

  3. Thanks Charles. I’m in Cairns at the moment but when I get home I will think of something clever and failing that something weird 😊

  4. I enjoyed reading your answers. I’m always glad when I hear of a fellow old film lover! Those Thin Man movies are among my favourites, and I think I’ve seen all the Torchy Blaine films as well. When I’m allowed to control the remote at home, I go through the TCM schedule and set up the good ones to record, then, like you, I relax and enjoy them at my leisure.

    1. Why let them tell you when to watch? Back when I was a teenager, I used to have to stay up until one or two in the morning to see a particular movie… most times, I fell asleep…
