Thoughts that Depress Me

Depression

I’m depressed because life is just a bleak emptiness with occasional intervals of bowling.

In billions of years, our Sun will swell up and burn the Earth to an ash and I won’t be around to see how Donald Trump tries to make money off of it.

☺

I get depressed when I realize that any woman that I’d be sexually compatible with would have to be REALLY screwed up.

☺

I’m depressed because I am no longer the smartest person in the room; and, often I have to be reminded where the door is to get out of that room.

☺

It’s depressing to watch people making the same mistakes their entire lives when, with a little thought, they could be making all new mistakes.

It’s depressing to look back on a life well-lived and suddenly notice that it isn’t my life I’m looking back on…

Elves were wonderful toy makers until most manufacturing went to China. It’s depressing to see them unemployed and addicted to Oxycontin.

It’s depressing to watch my boys growing up too fast despite all the steroids and hormones I’ve been sneaking into their food to slow it down.

☺

It’s depressing to see so many people not living up to their full potential. Certainly, I have the ability to help them with that but I don’t feel like it.

It’s depressing to say, “There but for the grace of God go I” and then realize I am looking into a mirror.

  4. See? You’ve been reading the depressing existential-crisis authors! Put those books down and switch back to comics! It’s also depressing that when I was raising my two kids I never, ever thought they would grow up and leave the house! Yes, I thought the joy would continue forever but “no one told me” it would end! How come I didn’t figure that out long ago? Now I look around an empty house and wonder…”what happened? How did that happen? Where was I?” …Good thing Pot is legal now ’cause I’m headed down to my local store now…You want to talk about depressing….start with Camus…

    1. I still have one in my house. He teaches a couple of college courses.

      Sadly, pot has only been decriminalized here.

      Camus is not as depressing as he is realistic. His Myth of Sisyphus is proof of that. He sees Sisyphus as possibly the happiest person ever… for reasons that boggle MY mind… Oh, and do NOT, under ANY circumstances, read The Rebel…

  5. Funny, another blogger just posted a quote from Camus. Here’s the quote he chose: “There is but one truly serious philosophical problem, and that is suicide.
