Thoughts on Insanity

More than 50 million Americans struggle with mental illness. The other 250 million are just as crazy but at least they’ve stopped struggling.

Improving mental health services in low- to medium-income countries is not as costly as some may think. An investment of only $2-4 per capita would have a major impact on millions of lives, especially if that country has a lot of capitas.

20% of young people have a mental health condition, while the other eighty percent are just trying to attract attention in order to get laid.

Most people living with mental illness lead productive lives despite their challenges… but not the guys who kill people and wear their faces; but, I guess that goes without saying.

The most common mental illnesses in teens are: Generalized anxiety, Social phobias and Depression, making them indistinguishable from normal teenagers.

Mental illness often comes with substance abuse which is probably the ONLY benefit to being mentally ill.

In situations where a severely mentally ill person presents a grave danger to other persons, involuntary commitment may be necessary.  So, ask yourself, “Did he say he WANTS to wear my skin and become me; or, did he say he MUST wear my skin and become me?”

The legal definition of insanity requires that the subject be unable to distinguish right from wrong. Ironically, by that definition, the lawyer arguing the case probably meets that criteria.

Twenty percent of schizophrenics can recover from the disease and live normal lives after five years of treatment; whereas, thirty-five percent of schizophrenics prefer the magic wishpill dispensed by the orange man with the melted clock on his face.

The insanity defense is used only one percent of the time and only succeeds for a quarter of those cases. This means that, despite the expense and trouble you’ll go through, you’ll probably still have to pay that speeding ticket…

    1. Just think, Deb: The current crop is ready to discontinue their roles in the Marvel Universe to be replaced by younger actors. And, you know what THAT means: Redo ALL the origin stories…

    1. We had a man in one office that literally bragged about owning a piece of paper that declared he was “sane”. He was about six feet four inches and three hundred pounds. He so unnerved others that the mailroom wouldn’t deliver to our floor. I wasn’t afraid of him but my ex-wife who had a degree in psychology said, “Wow! He really is crazy” after meeting him… Good times!

      1. 6’4″ and 300 pounds and crazy! That paper was probably a necessity. Being a measly 35 kilograms person, I totally empathise with the mailroom guys. It’s one thing to be mortal and die when my time comes, and an entirely different thing to stop existing because someone said “heyyyy” with a pat on the back.

  1. Since Trump became a driving force, we haven’t been in sanity.
Now the question is, of course: In what direction is humanity?

P.S. Sorry to turn serious — I must be delirious. 😥

  2. Starting to think all the laws governing our behavior is to channel our insanity into acceptable, safe actions. There really is no accepted definition of “normal” which means we’re all insane…all is chaos.
